Sharing the love of Jesus

Prayer Shawl Ministry

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb."  Psalm 139: 13

In 1998, Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo, two graduates of the 1997 Women's Leadership Institute at The Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Connecticut gave birth to the Prayer Shawl Ministry.

Care and the love of knitting and crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. Many prayers and blessings are knitted into every shawl and blanket.

Our ministry here began in April 2005, and since then, we have presented shawls to those who have needed comfort in one way or another. We also give blankets to young babies when they are baptized. As of this date, we have provided more than 330 of these wonderful shawls and blankets.

We welcome any one who would like to join us. If you don’t knit, we will teach you. We have yarn and the only thing you need is a pair of size 11 knitting needles.

Our meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Community Center from 2 to 4. PM.
